The plan outlines both short-term and long-term goals, including infrastructure enhancements and sustainability efforts, such as recycling programs, water conservation, and the introduction of electric vehicles on campus.
The satellite initiative is a major step forward for the university, aiming to integrate cutting-edge technology into education. “It will facilitate global digital connectivity while also contributing to national priorities in security, navigation, and environmental monitoring,” said a senior official. Through partnerships with organisations like ISRO, DU hopes to provide students and researchers with access to crucial data and resources worldwide, according to the TOI report.
Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh highlighted the universityâ€s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and social outreach, noting that DUâ€s recognition as an Institution of Eminence by the central government reflects its dedication to knowledge production and dissemination. “IDP embodies our vision to align with national goals and contribute to achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047,” he said.
In addition to the satellite system, DU is focusing on enhancing its infrastructure, including the creation of smart classrooms that support interactive learning and preparing students for future job markets, reported TOI. Sustainability is also a key priority, with initiatives like recycling programs, water conservation, and a solar-powered eco-friendly cafeteria aimed at reducing waste and promoting student well-being.
To further reduce its carbon footprint, DU plans to allow parking for electric, hybrid, and clean-fuel vehicles, while transitioning to electric and hybrid vehicles for official purposes. Cultural engagement is also at the forefront of the universityâ€s transformation, with plans to establish a centre for cross-cultural interactions and collaborations with international institutions.TOI further noted that DU envisions a research innovation and assessment centre that will serve as a hub for sustainable development, supporting cutting-edge research and driving innovation with advanced computing resources and a central instrumentation facility.
