MANILA, Philippines — Actress Rufa Mae Quinto turned herself over to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) upon her arrival at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 on Wednesday after a warrant for her arrest was issued for the alleged unauthorized solicitation of investments involving a local skincare product.
The actress, who came from San Francisco, California aboard a Philippine Airlines (PAL) flight, is facing 14 counts of violating the Securities Regulation Code, which states that securities shall not be sold or offered for sale or distribution within the Philippines, without a registration statement duly filed with and approved by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
