House okays bill that extends term of village officials

MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives approved on second reading the bill that seeks to extend the term of barangay (village) and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK or youth council) officials to six years from three years.

Under House Bill 11287, village and SK elections shall be held on the second Monday of May 2029 and every six years after that.
