MANILA, Philippines — The Marikina City government on Sunday declared a two-day suspension of classes in all public and private schools as a precautionary measure against the rising cases of flu and flu-like illnesses.
Mayor Marjorie Ann “Maan” Teodoro said the health break will be observed on Monday and Tuesday, October 13 and 14, following the recommendation of the City Health Office.
On Monday morning, the city will clean and disinfect schools.
Teodoro said the measure aims to protect the health and welfare of students, teachers, and school staff, and to prevent the further spread of the illness.
She advised those feeling unwell to stay home, rest, drink plenty of water, and immediately consult a doctor if symptoms occur.
