MANILA, Philippines — Metro Manila and the rest of the country would likely have generally fair weather except for isolated downpours or thunderstorms due to the easterlies, the national weather bureau said Tuesday.
Weather specialist Robert Badrina of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) also said in a 5 a.m. briefing that the country would be possibly storm-free for the next three to five days.
He said BARMM (Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao) and SOCCSKSARGEN (South Cotabato, Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, Sarangani and General Santos) would be experiencing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ).
Another weather system, the shear line – convergence of hot and cold air- would be affecting Cagayan, Isabela, and Apayao where overcast skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms would prevail.
Batanes and Ilocos Norte, meanwhile, would be experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon locally known as amihan, Pagasa said.
The ITCZ – where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres meet – has also been affecting the rest of Mindanao where isolated rain showers or thunderstorms would occur within 24 hours, it added.
