MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said on Sunday that it has not monitored any weather disturbance forming within the country’s area of responsibility within the next three days.
Weather specialist Robert Badrina said three weather systems – shear line, easterlies and northeast monsoon or “amihan” – has been prevailing in most parts of the archipelago.
In particular, the convergence of hot and cold air or shear line has been bringing cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms over the provinces of Aurora and Quezon, the state-run weather agency said in its 5a.m. advisory.
The easterlies – winds that bring humid and warm weather – have also been bringing similar weather patterns over Caraga and Davao Region, the Pagasa forecaster said.
Metro Manila and the rest of Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon) will be experiencing overcast skies with light rains due to amihan.
Meanwhile, the Bicol Region, Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan) and the rest of Mindanao will likely have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also caused by the easterlies, the national weather bureau said.
It said that the northeast monsoon would prevail over the rest of Luzon where partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains would occur within the next 24 hours.
