Through 3 Quarters
The Indianapolis Colts were expected to take an ‘L’ in this one, but so far it isn’t playing out to script. They have emerged as the frontrunner after three quarters and are ahead of the San Francisco 49ers 20-12. RB Jonathan Taylor has led the way so far for the Colts, as he has rushed for one TD and 102 yards on 17 carries.
Indianapolis has yet to string together two consecutive wins, but this may be their chance. For now, all signs point to yes.
Who’s Playing
Indianapolis @ San Francisco
Current Records: Indianapolis 2-4; San Francisco 2-3
What to Know
The San Francisco 49ers watched the action from their couches last weekend, but are set to take to the field. They will take on the Indianapolis Colts at 8:20 p.m. ET Sunday at Levi’s Stadium. The 49ers are out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
San Francisco came up short against the Arizona Cardinals two weeks ago, falling 17-10. San Francisco’s only offensive touchdown came from WR Deebo Samuel.
Meanwhile, Indianapolis took their contest against the Houston Texans last week by a conclusive 31-3 score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Indianapolis had established a 24-3 advantage. RB Jonathan Taylor had a stellar game for Indianapolis as he rushed for two TDs and 145 yards on 14 carries. Taylor’s longest run was for 83 yards in the third quarter. Taylor’s sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season.
The 49ers are the favorite in this one, with an expected 4-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are only 1-3 against the spread when favored.
San Francisco is now 2-3 while the Colts sit at 2-4. Two stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: San Francisco comes into the game boasting the fourth fewest thrown interceptions in the NFL at three. But Indianapolis is even better: they enter the game with only two thrown interceptions, which is the best in the league. So expect both teams to feel comfortable airing the ball out.
