Guillermo Valdez sentenced to life in prison
Guillermo Valdez, 59
VICTORIA COUNTY, Texas – On Thursday a Victoria County jury sentenced Guillermo Valdez, 59, to life in prison for sexual abuse of a child. The incident happened on January 1, 2009. Court records show Valdez arrested several times since 2000. His criminal history shows arrests for DWI and child endangerment.
The trial started on Monday. It took the jury about three hours to reach the guilty verdict and 13 minutes to decide punishment.
Prosecutors said the victim was abused by Valdez over multiple years until she made an outcry at age 12.
“She bravely took the stand and testified at his trial this week,” said Constance Filley Johnson, Victoria County District Attorney. “Asst. DA Zachary Miles prosecuted the case, which was initially investigated by Victoria PD Detective Christina Tate.”
Parole is not available for this particular offense, thus Valdez will spend the rest of his life in prison.
Valdez is not eligible for parole.
