Your guide to what Trump’s second term means for Washington, business and the world
Donald Trump is set to speak to his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Thursday, ahead of his meeting on Friday at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The call, which was confirmed by a White House official, marks the first time the two leaders have spoken since their summit in Alaska in August, which yielded little progress in Trump’s efforts to broker an end to the war in Ukraine.
Trump’s call with Putin comes as he weighs whether to provide Ukraine with Tomahawk missiles that could significantly expand Kyiv’s ability to conduct long-range strikes deep into Russia.
