Curfew relaxed in 5 valley districts in Manipur, Kuki-Zo MLAs slam NDA resolution

With the improvement of the law and order situation, the District Magistrates of five Manipur Valley districts issued orders on Thursday to relax curfew for seven hours on Friday, officials said. The five districts are Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur, and Kakching. Schools, colleges, and universities in Manipur’s Imphal Valley will remain closed till November 23 for the safety of the students, teachers, and staff.

Meanwhile, ten Kuki-Zo tribal MLAs, including seven from the BJP, stated that the NDA meeting resolution seeking the handing over of cases relating to the death of six Meitei civilians to the National Investigative Agency smacks of measures “taken by a communalised state”. The MLAs have recommended that all civilian killings from May 3, 2023 — both in the valley and Hills — be handed over to the NIA.

The Kuki- Zo MLAs stated that to start a mass operation against only one community is biased. Mass operations must be conducted all over the state to recover all illegal arms from all militia groups, they felt.The NDA meeting had decided to start mass operations against Kuki militants responsible for the killing of six innocent women and children in Jiribam within seven days.
Meanwhile, chief minister N Biren Singh on Thursday said that for the first time, five hill districts would have access to advanced medical facilities including Computed Tomography scans, MRI, ICU services, and super-specialty care.
