Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre is set to contest for federal by-elections from Alberta riding after a newly-elected member stepped aside. Poilievre lost his seat in the Ottawa riding of Carleton, which he retained since 2005 until the federal election on April 28. Battle River-Crowfoot MP-elect Damien Kurek has held his seat since 2019, with his decision to resign helping Poilievre to contest in a future by-election from the seat.
