MANILA, Philippines —Tropical Depression Huaning has slightly accelerated as it turned to exit from the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Tuesday morning, the state-run weather agency Pagasa said.
Moving north-northeastward at 10 kilometers per hour (kph), and maintaining maximum sustained winds of 55kph near the center, and gustiness of up to 70kph, Huaning was estimated at 650 kilometers east-northeast of Itbayat, Batanes at 4 a.m., Pagasa’s 5 a.m. advisory indicated.
Huaning is unlikely to directly affect the country throughout the forecast period, Pagasa weather specialist Chenel Domiguez said.
“The tropical depression is also unlikely to affect the coastal waters of the country,” she said.
While the southwest monsoon (habagat) is on its temporary weakening stage, the easterlies has resurfaced and now affecting the Visayas, Bicol Region, MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan), Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, Davao Region, and Quezon, where cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms would prevail.
The easterlies –winds coming from the east and passing through the Pacific Ocean that carry humid, warm weather –are also affecting the rest of Mindanao where partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms would be likely, according to Pagasa.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon would be experiencing similar atmospheric conditions caused by localized thunderstorms, it added.
