MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area near Aurora on Friday intensified into a tropical depression named “Isang,” according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa). In its 11 a.m. bulletin on Friday, Pagasa said “Isang” made landfall over Casiguran, Aurora, with maximum sustained winds of 55 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 kph.
Its present movement is westward at 15 kph.
Signal No. 1 is up over Batanes, Cagayan, Isabela, Quirino, Nueva Vizcaya, Apayao, Kalinga, Abra, Mountain Province, Ifugao, Benguet, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, the northern and central portions of Aurora (Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dilasag, Baler, Maria Aurora, Dipaculao, San Luis) and the northern portion of Nueva Ecija (Lupao, Carranglan, Pantabangan, San Jose City).
The weather bureau said “Isang” could intensify into a tropical storm on Saturday morning.
