Meta is making a massive strategic investment to accelerate Africa’s digital transformation, betting big on the continent’s booming online population. This push involves backing new subsea cables like the vast 2Africa project and supporting critical infrastructure, such as the newly launched LKK2 data center in Lagos, Nigeria. The new facility connects to the 2Africa cable, giving businesses access to 46 landing points across 33 countries and positioning Nigeria as a hub for global connectivity. This interconnected network aims to provide the resilient, high-speed connectivity essential for economic growth, financial inclusion, and richer online experiences, putting African users on par with those in developed markets. By building this robust digital backbone, Meta and its partners seek to unlock the vast potential of Africa’s internet users.
