Crystal Palace have joined Galatasaray in expressing an interest in a deal for Manchester City defender Manuel Akanji, sources have told ESPN.
The Premier League side are also in advanced negotiations with Villarreal to finalise the transfer of Yeremy Pino, a source has told ESPN.
Palace’s window has so far been dictated by departures rather than incomings, with Marc Guéhi heavily linked with Liverpool and Eberechi Eze having already joined Arsenal.
But while the Premier League side have yet to submit a formal bid for Akanji, they have contacted City about the 30-year-old’s availability.
Sources have told ESPN that City value Akanji, who was an unused substitute against Wolves and out of the squad entirely for the visit of Tottenham, at around £15 million ($20.2m). He has two years left on his contract at the Etihad Stadium.
If Palace are successful, it could open the door for Guéhi to join Liverpool. Guéhi, who has a year left on his contract and is unlikely to sign a new one, is keen on a move to Anfield.
Palace, however, are reluctant to allow another key player to leave following Eze’s move to Arsenal.

Talks are progressing, meanwhile, with Villarreal over a move for Spain international midfielder Pino.
Pino has an €80 million ($93.1m) clause in his contract, but a source has told ESPN that the clubs have narrowed their positions to try to close the deal for a significantly lower amount.
The 22-year-old had some doubts about his move to south London, but in recent hours he seems convinced. In fact, various sources have told ESPN that Villarreal are already looking for a replacement in the market in case the deal goes through.
