The European Payments Council has issued a request for proposal (RFP) for an API Test Toolbox to help with the Verification of Payee (VOP) plan.
The VOP scheme, created by the EPC, will start on 5 October 2025. It gives all Payment Service Providers (PSPs) in the European Economic Area (EEA) and the European Union (EU) a way to check who is receiving instant credit transfers.
The EPC Aims To Set Up A Test Environment To Replicate VOP Scheme Activities
The Scheme depends on using APIs for messages between PSPs. This brings up some problems in making sure everything works well across borders, with everyone being able to use it properly.
Because of this, the EPC wants to create a test space for the API that will imitate both client-side and server-side VOP scheme actions. The EPC also needs the VOP API Reference Toolbox so the people in the scheme can check by themselves if they follow the VOP API rules.
The RFP began on 23 December 2024, and the last day to submit is Friday 17 January 2025. Candidates who want to send in a bid must first fill out a form to get the RFP document and then send their application by email, according to the EPC.
Gijs Boudewijn Was Elected As The New Chair Of The EPC, Replacing Javier SantamarÃa
Gijs Boudewijn was recently appointed as the new chair of the European Payments Council (EPC) by the general assembly, taking over from Javier SantamarÃa.
The general assembly of the EPC also picked a new vice-chair, Rita Camporeale, whose job starts right away and will last until December 2026.
Boudewijn will start his new job at the EPC, which is a group of European payment service providers, in June 2025 for a two-year time, and then SantamarÃa will step down.
The EPC said that big changes are expected in the payments industry during the new chair’s time. Boudewijn has been the boss of the Dutch Payments Association since 2021 and just said he will retire on 30 May 2025. Arjan Bol has been chosen as his replacement at the Dutch Payments Association and will join on 1 April.
SantamarÃa has been in charge of the EPC since June 2012 and has helped the group since it was founded in 2002. He noted that he is thankful for the chance to lead the EPC over the years and support its progress.
The chair’s main job is to guide the EPC’s two most important groups – its board and general assembly. The chair also talks to others on behalf of the EPC, especially in discussions with European institutions and other people.
The EPC said the next six months will be a transition period, during which there will be a smooth change between SantamarÃa and Boudewijn, making sure the group keeps running.
