MANILA – The measure that seeks to defer the first parliamentary election in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) remains pending in the Senate despite calls from various stakeholders to postpone the electoral exercise.
The BARMM is set to hold their very first elections in May 2025. But there were proposals to postpone the polls following the Supreme Court decision excluding Sulu province from BARMM.
Records of the Senate revealed that as of this date, no hearing was scheduled to deliberate on the bill even if the House of Representatives has approved its counterpart measure on final reading.
