ECONOMYNEXT – Sri Lanka’s President Anura Kumara Disanayake met with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Disanayake is currently on a four-day state visit to China.
“Engaged in meaningful discussions with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Great Hall of the People,” Disanayake said on X.
“Our talks focused on strengthening the enduring friendship between Sri Lanka and China while exploring new avenues for future investments.”
Several memoranda of understanding will be signed following bilateral discussions between President Dissanayake and President Xi, the Sri Lankan president’s media division said.
Earlier Wednesday Disanayake visited the exhibition hall on the history of the Communist Party of China, and Prince Kung’s Palace Museum in China.
Later, he offered flowers at the Mao Zedong Memorial, dedicated to the founding leader of the People’s Republic of China.
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, Vijitha Herath, and Minister of Transport, Highways, Ports, and Civil Aviation, Bimal Rathnayake, also participated in these events. (Colombo/Jan15/2025)
