MANILA, Philippines — Philippine authorities have uncovered a sophisticated espionage operation involving advanced equipment used to map out critical infrastructure across the country. The operation was allegedly led by a Chinese with local accomplices.
The Chinese allegedly used state-of-the-art sensors capable of generating 3D images of strategic sites, including military camps, power plants, government offices, and shopping malls. The equipment included GNSS RTK (Global Navigation Satellite System Real-Time Kinematics) technology, typically used for precise mapping, navigation, artillery targeting, and supply chain management.
