Embassies across Kinshasa, the capital of Democratic Republic of Congo, were attacked by protesters on Tuesday, as the advance of the Rwanda-backed M23 rebel group continued in the mineral-rich eastern North Kivu region sparking outrage across the country. The French, Rwandan, US and Ugandan embassy compounds were among those targeted by people who also looted the buildings. DRC’s government called on demonstrators to protest peacefully.
