Miriam Makeba, a key figure in African music history, spent much of her 76 years promoting African culture globally. The Grammy Awards have increasingly recognized African music, with the Best African Music Performance category introduced in recent years. This year, Rema and Tems are nominated for Best Global Music Album, while Tems is also up for Best R&B Song. Other notable African nominees include Angélique Kidjo and Rocky Dawuni for Best Global Music Performance. Nigerian-American artist Shaboozey, with multiple nominations, and British Nigerian Jordan Adetunji are also in the running. The Grammys continue to celebrate African musical excellence and history.
