The Metropolitan Museum of Art announced the committee of the 2025 Met Gala — and star athletes are a key part of it.
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James is listed as an honorary chair. F1 driver Lewis Hamilton is among the four co-chairs, who also include actor Colman Domingo as well as musicians Pharrell Williams and A$AP Rocky plus Anna Wintour.
Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese, Olympic track star Sha’Carri Richardson, seven-time gold-medalist Simon Biles and her husband, Chicago Bears safety Jonathan Owens are on the star-studded host committee.
The theme and James and Hamilton’s involvement in the Gala were announced in October; however, the host committee was revealed Tuesday. Hamilton, Reese, Richardson and Biles have attended the Gala before, while it’s the first for James.
The Gala, which will be held on May 5, follows a theme of “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”
“The Costume Institute’s spring 2025 exhibition will present a cultural and historical examination of the Black dandy, from the figure’s emergence in Enlightenment Europe during the 18th century to today’s incarnations in cities around the world,” according to the Met.
The dress code is “Tailored For You.” Each year, the dress code is inspired by the exhibition topic to encourage “a creative interpretation and celebration of the themes explored in the show.”
