Synopsis: High-pressure will keep the area warm and dry over the next couple of days. Overnight Wednesday into Thursday morning will show widespread areas (the coast to the Rio Grande) of dense fog even after the sun comes up. High level clouds (cirrus) could alter how bad visibility gets due to the drop in temperatures (could be less with a little bit of cloud cover) disparity. A Dense Fog Advisory could potentially be issued for Thursday morning.
High-pressure will move east of the area on Thursday but not before abundant sunshine and above averaged temperatures are observed on Thursday along with light winds out of the south. Winds will switch to out of the east and southeast during the day on Thursday and into Thursday night.
Storm energy out of the southwest will move northeast through South Texas on Thursday night but rain chances will stay near 10-20 percent as there simply is not enough moisture in the atmosphere to strike up any showers. Later Thursday night, coastal moisture could be enough to spark a rain shower or two but more than likely this will only be enough for cloud development.
This increase in clouds could limit fog down to the patchy variety Thursday night into Friday morning as temperatures fail to cool rapidly due to the cloud development.
In the long term for the extended period, days 3 to 7, Friday through Wednesday, an increase in moisture (1.5″) could spell for fog to linger into morning hours for Friday.
Storm energy (trough, Rio Grande, between Laredo and Del Rio) out of the southwest will move northeast into Central Texas at around 7 am on Friday and during the day. This weather feature could strike up a shower or two along the coast as the feature meets up with unstable air heated up from the sun.
High-pressure in the mid-levels will be over South Texas over the weekend, keeping temperatures above average (low to mid 80’s) and rain chances in the 10-20 percent range.
A low-pressure system near northern Baja California on Saturday will move southeast toward southern Baja California on Sunday. A trough over the northern plains on Sunday will dip to the southeast and into the Midwest on Monday.
A cold front will push south through the plains and be over Central Texas by Monday morning keeping moisture levels near 1.5″. Later in the day on Monday as the front moves through the South Texas (on the coast) then the front will move into some unstable air heated up by the sun. Rain chances staying around 20 percent.
A trough will move through the Rocky Mountains on Tuesday and Wednesday and into the Plains while moving a low-pressure system along.
Tuesday looks to be warm (near 80 degrees) until the front cools the area down on Wednesday while the front could trigger some showers on Wednesday when meeting up with unstable air heated by the sun in the Crossroads.
High tide could push water levels to two feet above sea level over the weekend as we monitor possible coastal flooding.
