What happened to their old house?
Austin and Catherine, who often show off their luxury lifestyle to their audiences, moved into their old Los Angeles house in 2019.
At the time the parents of three and their fandom were thrilled that they were now living in their dream house. However, things didn’t go as planned.
An October 2021, report on Insider claimed that the McBrooms no longer owned their $10 million luxury mansion. The report also claimed that the property was foreclosed on.
As per documents reviewed by Insider, “The property was returned to their lender after it failed to attract bidders at a foreclosure auction on October 19.”
Following the reports and speculations, Austin and Catherine finally took to their YouTube to clear the air.
In the video, Catherine went on to claim that the realtor, as well as the “fake contractor “, “screwed us”. She claimed that the contractor did not have a license hence was a fake.
Furthermore, both Austin and Catherine also claimed that they didn’t have the certificate of occupancy.
Detailing the issues they faced in the mansion, Catherine added, there were endless wall leaks, cheap furnishings and cabinets, ill-fitted doors, and other structural problems.
The couple also addressed the rumours about them not paying the mortgage and other bills. “If it was true that we didn’t pay our bills,” Catherine said alluding to the foreclosure, “why would I spend $40-$50,000 on my gardening.”
Blaming the realtor about the mortgage arrangement Catherine also claimed, “he ended up getting a loan that ended being double the price than what I was going into it thinking.”
