ECONOMYNEXT – Representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Sri Lankan officials have discussed planned projects aimed at developing the country’s tourism sector at a meeting on Thursday at the Presidential Secretariat.
“During the meeting, ADB officials highlighted that the tourism industry in Sri Lanka is growing rapidly,” the president’s media division said in a statement.
ADB Country Operations Head Cholpon Mambetova, ADB Director Srinivas Sampath, ADB Urban Development Specialist Elma Morsheda, and ADB Senior Project Officer Panchali Ellepola met President’s Secretary Nandika Kumanayake, Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) Deputy Director General Upali Ratnayake, and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) Managing Director P A D Damayanthi.
“They also informed the Secretary to the President about the planned projects aimed at further developing the country’s tourism sector.”
Discussions were held on the establishment of new tourist zones and the involvement of government institutions in implementing future plans for the tourism industry. (Colombo/Jan31/2025)
