Aged care workers will be “relieved” at the announcement Australian Defence Force personnel are coming to aid the sector, according to Shadow Aged Care Minister Clare O’Neil.
Up to 1,700 members of the ADF will assist the sector.
“They’ve been calling for this for many weeks now,” Ms O’Neil told Sky News Australia.
“I think the decision that’s been taken today puts it beyond any shadow of a doubt that there is an emergency in aged care today that has real consequences for some of the most vulnerable people in the community.”
