Hilaria Baldwin is fearful that her Hollywood husband Alec will develop PTSD following his accidental shooting of Halyna Hutchins
Alec Baldwin ’s devastated wife Hilaria is riddled with worry that the Hollywood star will suffer with long-term PTSD following the fatal shooting on the set of the movie Rust.
Earlier this month, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, 42, tragically died from her injuries while director Joel Souza was left injured after a prop gun which Alec was holding fired real bullets.
The 63-year-old Hollywood star had been working on a new Western titled Rust when catastrophe struck.
Alec discharged a prop gun – with a bullet tearing through 42-year-old Halyna, killing her, and the bullet continued its path and struck 48-year-old Joel who needed emergency hospital treatment.
Now, Alec’s wife worries that her husband will be permanently scarred from the tragedy.
Speaking to the New York Post, Hilaria said that she escaped to Vermont to find peace with her husband.
“I brought Alec up here because we have to mourn Halyna’s death,” she admitted.
“Alec had a really traumatic thing happen, and I am trying to limit the PTSD.”
“You look at what happens to soldiers and police officers when something like this happens, it’s traumatic. We just came up here for quiet.”
When asked about her husband’s future acting career, Hilaria said she was hopeful but not certain that he would ever make a return to Hollywood.
“He needs space for me to take care of him and his mental health. It’s an awful thing that happened. Alec feels awful.”
It comes after reports stated that Alec is planning to take time away from work and out of the spotlight in the aftermath of the fatal incident.
A source told People earlier this month: “This was pretty devastating.
“This is how he handles difficult times. Whenever something bad happens, in the short term, he removes himself from the public eye.
“Everyone knows this was an accident, but he’s absolutely devastated.”
The report also stated that Alec was “hysterical and absolutely inconsolable for hours” following the shooting at a 2,000-acre ranch in New Mexico last week.
Alec previously released a statement as Hollywood reeled from the news of the devastating accident.
He wrote: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours.
“I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family.
“My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”
