SEEING miserable models making millions for doing naff all has always been a galling part of this job.
But it looks like the tide might be turning if Alexa Chung’s business accounts are anything to go by.
The snooty model’s firm, Alpha Charlie Limited, lost almost £2.3million last year and is predicting a tough 2021.
But the reason it appears to be in tatters may be due to the fact she flogs cardigans for £250, boots for £450 and asks £350 for a mini dress.
New figures, filed in public documents at Companies House, show shareholders had to pump in £1.7million, then put in more money in June this year.
If Alexa really had any kind of nous, she’d have cut the ridiculous costs of her lines.
But alas, the stuck-up socialite believed she knew better. Yet it seems even her posh pals have snubbed her not-so-trendy designs.
The grim report said: “During the year, the directors prepared a three-year plan and the company’s shareholders invested a further £1.7million in the company.
“Further funding has been raised in June 2020 to support working capital.”
The accounts cover the year to the end of March 2020, so do not even include the impact of the pandemic, but show staffing levels were cut from 23 to 21.
But the report said of the virus: “This has had a significant impact on the business cashflow requirements which the investors have already supported with a fund raise in June.
“The lasting impact of Covid-19 is not expected to have a material impact on the business post December 2020 but this is being monitored by the directors and they are aware that if the situation worsens then the current cash flow position may change.”
Don’t go into business with a pretentious model, there’s a lesson for you.
MOBO Awards
THE MOBO Awards didn’t lose any glamour despite it being a virtual affair this year.
Hosted by Maya Jama and YouTuber Chunkz, the ceremony was streamed on YouTube and BBC1 last night.
London rapper Nines won Album Of The Year for Crabs In A Bucket while Headie One took home Best Male Act and Song Of The Year for his hit Don’t Rush with Young T and Bugsey.
Aitch picked up the Best Newcomer gong and Mahalia was awarded Best Female Act and Best R&B/Soul Act.
Maya wore a long black outfit flaunting her enviable curves, while award presenter, model Leomie Anderson, donned a rather revealing number.
Jourdan Dunn also stunned in animal print and former Strictly contestant Emma Weymouth added sparkle. There were performances from Headie, H.E.R., Ms Banks, Stylo G and M Huncho.
I’m Shawn again
THE rise of Shawn Mendes seems to have come overnight, but he has already come very close to quitting music.
The Canadian revealed he struggled with workload and popularity following the success of his self-titled album in 2018 and almost packed it all in this year until he realised his problem.
Shawn said: “I came extremely close. Extremely, extremely close. I burnt out and had a meltdown within, but not externally. I realised it’s not the industry, it’s the way I do the industry.”
The Senorita singer is now looking for a house in Miami with girlfriend Camila Cabello, who he has temporarily moved away from while she works hard on new music.
He said: “I’m giving her some space because I don’t want to mess up her creative flow.”
Posh’s praise for Nic
IMPRESSING the in-laws is always daunting, but Brooklyn Beckham’s heiress fiancée Nicola Peltz can rest easy.
Future mother-in-law Victoria gushed about her, calling her an “adorable lady”, in a chat on ITV’s Lorraine.
Posh said: “They’re so happy. She’s wonderful, sweet and kind. She’s such a lovely, warm woman. We couldn’t have asked for Brooklyn to meet a more adorable lady. It’s nice with everything that has gone on this year that he has found his soulmate.”
Brooklyn and US actress Nicola got engaged in July and are due to wed next year.
AJ raps selfish artists
AJ TRACEY has blasted fellow rappers who are selfish when they get their first big pay cheque.
The West Ten hitmaker, who bought his mum a house before he started to splurge cash on himself, said: “Some people are like, ‘I’ve got my jewellery, I’ve got my Bentley. Now let’s see if mum can get a little Tesco every week or something’.”
AJ also told the In The Duffle Bag podcast his healthy rivalries with rap pals Dave and Stormzy have helped to “push” him creatively.
That can only be good for UK music.
1D Liam is naughty but knit
EVEN dressed in a woolly jumper and with tidy hair, Liam Payne isn’t kidding anyone . . . he’s on the Naughty List this year.
He admits as much in his new song – called, yes, Naughty List – which is out now.
Liam teamed up with US singer Dixie D’Amelio for his second festive tune after last year’s All I Want (For Christmas).
In the video for his latest single, which was filmed in London and Los Angeles, the pair pose with pals at a photo booth draped with tinsel, put baubles on a pink Christmas tree and sing from inside a giant snow globe.
Twin pix
PIXIE Lott looks quite like Khloe Kardashian in this photo.
She posted: “All I want for Christmas is you. Only joking just give me wine.”
She’ll soon be seeing double.
Cov king Corden
JAMES Corden, Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sir David Attenborough were the big-name winners at last night’s Rose d’Or Awards.
James was presented with the new Innovation In The Time Of Covid prize for his coronavirus edition of his US Late Late Show.
Sir David won the Lifetime Achievement Award and Normal People actress Daisy picked up the gong for Emerging Talent
Taylor’s ‘divorce’
HER row with Scooter Braun has been going on for ever, so no wonder Taylor Swift has likened it to divorce.
She revealed two songs on her July album Folklore were about her dispute with the record-label boss who owns the rights to her old songs.
Taylor said of My Tears Ricochet and Mad Woman: “I found myself being very triggered by any movies or narratives revolving around divorce.
“I think that happens any time you’ve been in a 15-year relationship and it ends in a messy, upsetting way. The person who was your best friend is now your biggest nemesis.”
