Great if you need a quick dessert since it uses a mix and is an easy and delicious cake to serve with coffee or as a snack with milk anytime. I love making cakes from scratch but there are times when you need something in a hurry and this cake is a quick recipe.
Apple spice cake ingredients needed:
Betty Crocker Super Moist Spice Cake Mix w/pudding in the mix
Eggs
Buttermilk
Cooking Oil
Apples, peeled and grated or finely chopped (any kind of apple will work)
Vanilla extract
Cinnamon
Caramel Frosting ingredients needed:
Butter or margarine
Brown sugar
Evaporated milk or regular milk
Confectionery sugar
Vanilla extract
Walnut pieces or nuts of your choice.
This cake is perfect to make for any occasion but we especially enjoy it during the Fall. Everyone will think this cake is made from scratch, it’s just that good! I think it is even better the next day so you can easily make this cake a day in advance. We love to experiment with recipes and adding the caramel frosting was the perfect addition. Apple Spice Cake with Caramel Frosting
This Apple Spice Cake is wonderful to enjoy with family and friends.
Servings: 1 cake
- 1 15.25 ounce Betty Crocker Super Moist Cake Mix with pudding in mix
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup cooking oil I used Canola
- 2 cups apples peeled and grated or finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Caramel Frosting
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons evaporated milk or regular milk
- 1 1/2 cups confectionery sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup walnut pieces or nuts of your choice.
Frosting Instructions

Melt butter in pan on top of stove. Add brown sugar and cook until sugar melts. Add milk, bring to boil. Remove from stove and add confectionery sugar and vanilla. Beat with mixer, adding more milk if needed. Fold in nuts or spinkle on top of frosting. . Spread on cake.
