There is often adjusted opening and closing times for all of your favourite shops, restaurants and grocery stores during Easter weekend. Some places are even shut completely, but what about the UK and US banks?

Are US banks open on Easter Monday 2022?
Easter Monday is not a federal holiday in the USA, meaning banks do not legally have to close. However operating hours may vary, therefore, we advise you to call your local bank to double check.
As it is not a federal holiday this means that all banks in America should be open. Including some of the top institutions; JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo & Co.

Easter Monday is not a state holiday in any US state, like Good Friday, which is recognised as a government holiday in 12 states. However, North Dakota informally celebrates the Monday along with certain cities in New York, Michigan, and Indiana.
UK Easter Monday banks opening hours
In the UK, Easter Monday is an official bank holiday, this means that most banks will be closed all day. They will likely be reopening as normal on the Tuesday.
Barclays, Halifax, HSBC, Lloyds, NatWest, Royal Bank of Scotland, Santander and TSB will all be closed. The only banks open on Easter Monday is Metro Bank whose branches will be open from 11am to 5pm. All of their stores are open 7 days a week, 362 days a year. With New Year’s Day, Easter Sunday and Christmas Day being the only exceptions.

Are shops open on Easter Monday?
Yes, the majority of shops in both US and UK are open, they may have altered opening and closing times.
For example, on Easter Monday most of the Morrisons stores will be open 7am until 8pm, with a couple remaining open until 10pm. Aldi is open Easter Monday from 8am to 8pm and the opening hours are the same for Lidl.
On Easter Monday, Sainsbury’s Local will be open from 7am to 11pm. The majority of Waitrose & Partners stores will also remain open with their opening hours being 8am to 8pm, with some Little Waitrose operating from 6am to midnight.
