Food is just about the only thing bringing most people joy after the nation was plunged into another lockdown this week.

Under the new rules, all non-essential shops must stay closed until at least the middle of February after Prime Minister Boris Johnson ordered everyone to “stay at home” in an attempt to get the new strain of the virus under control.

But along with supermarkets, some of the much-loved fast food giants are also allowed to remain open for delivery services.

McDonald’s, Burger King, Greggs and KFC are all open but customers can not eat in and are not allowed inside to order either.

If you’re a Big Mac fan then you can use Click&Serve through the My McDonald’s app to order your favourite meal.

McDonald’s confirmed that its restaurants will stay open for drive-thru and delivery.

KFC and Burger King will still be open under the latest restrictions but for takeaway and drive-thru only too.

This means customers cannot sit in to enjoy their meals.

If you go inside to collect your order then you must wear a mask unless you are exempt and must also follow social distancing rules.

KFC customers can order through the KFC app, or through UberEats, JustEat and Deliveroo.

However, if a sausage roll or a steak bake is more your thing then fear not as you can still get your Gregg’s fix too.

The company confirmed on their website that they are open for takeaway, click and collect and JustEast delivery where applicable.

In a post on their homepage, they said: “As an essential retailer, our shops are still open if you need to be out and about.

“Please remember to socially distance if you’re visiting us.”

Subway are also remaining open for takeaway and delivery services.

Customers can order takeaways in store or via the Subway app, UberEats, JustEat or Deliveroo.

Coffee-lovers will be delighted to hear that most Starbucks and Costa Coffee stores will also stay open but only offer food and drinks to-go.

Customers can order inside for takeaways or via a drive thru lane or as a delivery and collect service.
