“The Voice” is hitting a high note.
Ariana Grande brought out the lions, eagles and bears in a new promo for Season 21 of the reality singing competition. NBC has released the trailer for the upcoming season featuring Grande, 28, who is the latest addition to the series’ panel of celebrity judges. The Grammy-winning singer joins coaches Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and John Legend.
In the promo, Grande swoops in wearing a gorgeous silver dress on a giant floating crescent moon to join her fellow judges around a campfire. Shelton points up at her: “Look at that amazing star over there!” The newbie, encouraged to sing a song around the campfire, serenades the entire forest of furry critters with the Olivia Newton-John hit “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” from the film “Grease,” which also starred John Travolta.
In March, it was announced that Grande would join Season 21 of “The Voice,” replacing singer Nick Jonas. She made a guest appearance on the show in 2016, where she performed her hit song “Into You.”
“I adore these humans so much and am already an emotional wreck worrying about saying goodbye to everyone the day of the finale and nothings even happened or aired yet,” Grande shared on her Instagram. ” I love these people and this crew and my TEAM OH MY GOD and everything about this. I can’t say anything else. but… simply cannot wait til we get started.”
Grande’s been excited about taking on the role since she was cast earlier this year. “I’m so honored and excited to join ‘The Voice’ family,” she said in March. “I have been a huge fan of the show for such a long time.”
Hardcore fans did not hesitate to share their excitement over the pop star’s appearance on Twitter.
“You voice is so angelic,” one fan tweeted. “i love you and I’m so excited.”
Another praised her high pitched version of the classic tune, writing, “this song belongs to ari now.”
Of course, every star has a hater who wants to dim their light: “Make better music or retire immediately,” wrote an unimpressed user.
But for every hater, Grande has hordes of devoted supporters, one naming her the “definition of ‘The Voice.’ “
This is just one of Grande’s recent projects, including a string of live performances from her latest chart-topping album, “Positions.”
The new season of “The Voice” premieres Sept. 20 on NBC. Episodes will air back-to-back on Mondays and Tuesdays weekly.
