Ashleigh Barty was already a two-time grand slam winner heading into the Australian Open final vs Danielle Collins.
The current world number #1 claimed success at the 2019 French Open and is the reigning Wimbledon champion.
In winning on Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Barty became the first Australian to win the Australian Open since 1978.
She was quickly embraced by her parents after picking up the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup from Evonne Goolagong.
But who are Ashleigh Barty’s parents? What jobs did they do during her younger days?

Ashleigh Barty parents revealed
Barty was born in April 1996 in Queensland, about 40km south-west of Brisbane.
Her parents are Robert and Josie Barty.
Father Robert – from who Ashleigh does have some aboriginal/indigenous blood in her – was born in northern Queensland.
His own grandmother was part of the indigenous Ngaragu people – who live in the New South Wales/Victoria area of the country.
Among other jobs, he worked for the Queensland State Library.

Mother Josie is of English descent with her own parents – and Ashleigh’s maternal grandparents – hailing from the UK.
She would later become a radiographer.
Ashleigh Barty’s parents also have two other children – both girls.
Ashleigh is the youngest, with Sara and Ali both being elder.
Her links to another sport
While Ashleigh Barty has forged a rather successful Tennis career, both her parents were very active in golf in her younger days.
Robert played amateur golf for both the state of Queensland and country of Australia.
Josie did not scale the international heights of Robert, but still managed to represent Queensland in competition.
Ashleigh recently showed her golf skills off when she impressed none other than icon of the sport, Tiger Woods.
“She’s got a great swing, are you kidding me,” he remarked after watching Barty.
She also won the Brookwater Golf Club championship for women.
As of September 2020, her golf handicap is 3.9.
