The whale tail trend has returned from the 90s.
Celebrities have rocked visible thongs on the catwalk and flashed their undies on their Instagram feeds.
Fashion fans have been snapping up the daring party dresses online – but the style has proven to be rather divisive.
When ASOS model Zoe Horn posed in a backless jumpsuit, shoppers didn’t know what to make of it.
While everyone agrees that the 23-year-old looks stunning no matter what she wears, people weren’t so keen on her outfit.
Despite the ASOS picture garnering 23,800 likes, the top comments on the post criticised the visible thong style.
One responder begged: “Can we cancel this thong dress trend please.”
Another said: “I remember when fashion had style. This is not it.”
A third asked: “Asking a legit question here… Where would one actually wear these?”
A fourth wrote: “Weird looking jumpsuit! Why’d anyone wear that?!”
And another added: “I mean, I know I love a backless number but this is taking it a bit far.”
Others called the look “tacky”, “tasteless” and “embarrassing”.
But there were some who thought the outfit was “hot” – and there’s no doubt they’ll be rushing to buy it.
The £25 ASYOU high neck backless jumpsuit is surprisingly popular on the ASOS website.
It has a four star rating and has sold out in the majority of sizes.
If you did want to pick one up, you can only do so if you’re a size 16.
