This from our reporter Georgie Tunny:
Has the Australian Open given away the end of Victoria’s lockdown?
Millions of Victorians are eagerly awaiting a press conference from Premier Daniel Andrews today – as they have done for the passed four mornings – to see if the snap five day, stage four lockdown will be lifted at 11:59pm tonight.
But the Australian Open may have already given it away.
The tournament has been a source of much controversy ever since the world’s top tennis players started arriving in January for quarantine. And last Friday, it was announced that there would be no fans in the stadiums for the immediate future, in line with the lockdown measures.
But something’s different this morning.
Tickets are available to purchase! For both the day session and night session, from tomorrow. At the time of writing this piece you could purchase a ticket to Rod Laver Arena for $330.
So, could be good news for Victorians today!
