Synopsis: Storms and boundaries pushed through South Texas last night. Parts of the area (plus San Antonio) had a marginal risk for severe weather. Hail was of the biggest concern. Moisture was there (1.5″), winds were there, as well as the stored energy (lift) from the sun but storm chances decreased the closer time got into night fall. Plus, most of the favorable weather dynamics for rain, stayed to the north of the viewing area.
High pressure causing sinking air, will decrease moisture values while keeping drier conditions on Monday.
For the long-term period, Tuesday through Sunday, the airflow out of the southeast (Gulf) will bring continue to bring moisture north into South Texas. The increase in moisture, combined with disturbances passing through the area will keep slight rain chances for a good portion of the week.
Thunderstorm chances remain a possibility, but storm CAP’s will be in place limiting this development. The moving of surrounding systems will keep the area warm and breezy all week. Winds will be stronger during the middle of the week when storms strengthen over the Southern Plains. Winds could even become stronger by the weekend as a trough moves into the Plains.
Temperatures will warm from Tuesday to Thursday. On Tuesday temperatures further west will be around 90 degrees, but by Thursday temperatures will be around 100 degrees. The heat stays on through the weekend.
Tide levels will be 2 feet or more above sea level on Tuesday and Wednesday. This could cause minor coastal flooding.
