An eager foodie shared a snap of his inventive “Yorkie Burger” on Reddit, but the reactions were split.
The hungry Brit had made a beef burger with lettuce, a sesame seed bun, mayo, tomato relish, red onion, melted Wensleydale cheese and a cheeky Yorkshire pud wedged in the middle.
The trend for incorporating the batter-based dish into different foods has been popular in recent years with the Yorkshire pudding wrap receiving big thumbs up.
So, you’d think the burger would be a hit, but not everyone was thrilled by it.
Posting the photo in the Reddit forum CasualUK, the user said: “Introducing The Yorkie Burger (Yorkshire pudding and Wensleydale cheese).”
He joked: “Not made from Yorkshire Terrier. 100% beef Pattie.”
Some people loved the idea and wanted to try it for themselves.
A foodie commented: “You need to find a burger restaurant and pitch this.
“I’d buy this.”
Another commented: “Ooh, good idea!
“How do you feel about a drizzle of gravy?”
“10/10 would eat,” added a third.
But, others found the execution of the dish questionable.
A food lover wrote: “Why not use puddings as buns?”
“And fill the bottom one with gravy,” replied another.
A third said: Looks great, but I wonder if the the Yorkshire pudding would be better under the burger patty to absorb it’s juices?”
“I imagine the pudding may not have the same structural properties compared to the field tested bun,” added another. “It also could be a little greasy.”
Some also thought cheddar would work better than Wensleydale.
To answer peoples queries, the bloke said: “In these trying times I just thought I would try something new, and I’ve been wanting to experiment a bit with Yorkshire pudding.
“Im not looking to start a revolution, but I think it has potential.
“Let me just say I really don’t think this worked though. I’d rate it three and a half out of five stars.”
He continued: “The Yorkshire didn’t really add much to the burger to be honest and melted Wensleydale just doesn’t work for me.
“I wanted to try Wensleydale since that’s a proper Yorkshire cheese.
“Maybe cheddar is a safer option. I have considered Yorkshire for buns, but I really need to up the quality of my Yorkshires.”
The lad noted: “Im going to have a rethink of this one.
“Watch this space haha.”
What do you think? Would you destroy this burger or leave it for someone else?
