Brown Butler, a Leeds-based accountancy firm, has announced the appointment of James Hurst as VAT director.
With over 30 years of experience in the field, Hurst has joined the company from an international accountancy firm where he spearheaded the development of an indirect tax team.
In his new role, Hurst expects to connect the firm with local businesses for whom VAT services have become “all the more essential” due to the transition to Brexit.
Speaking on his appointment, he said: “I am very excited to be joining Brown Butler. The practice is already well-known for its provision of VAT advice and support within Yorkshire and beyond.
“VAT advice has become all the more essential for businesses right now, with many owners facing new challenges as a result of changes to the VAT regime on imports and exports as a result of the UK’s departure from the EU.”
The firm offers businesses support on a number of VAT issues, including registrations in other nations, which it claims is critical in “adapting to recent changes in the UK’s trading relations”.
