Series two of BTS In the Soop introduces Jungkook’s new doberman named Bam, who fans admire for possessing the natural dog breed features and a lack of surgical procedures.
While many doberman dog owners take part in ear-cropping or tail-docking for aesthetic purposes, Jungkook is receiving praise for instead treating his pet with respect.

Jungkook’s doberman has no ear cropping or tail docking
South Korean reality series BTS In the Soop starring boy band BTS recently premiered a second series on 15 October 2021.
Much to many fans’ delight, the show introduces main vocalist Jungkook’s new dog named Jeon Bam/Bahm which translates to chestnut/night in Korean.
The dog is a male doberman breed and despite already being fairly large in size, he is still a puppy.
Doberman pinscher dogs are often known for having pointed ears and a short tail, however, the breed is not naturally born this way.
Many doberman dog owners take it upon themselves to have their pets undergo ear cropping or tail docking procedures to surgically alter their appearance.
This refers to the process of surgically altering or completely removing a dog’s ears and taping them to stand upright.
While this surgery was historically performed to make it harder to get ahold of the dog and to give them an intimidating appearance to protect their owners, in modern society the procedure is simply accomplished based on the owner’s preference.
Ear clipping is a painful process for the animals, making it illegal in many places including England and Wales.
BTS’s Jungkook decided against this harmful procedure and rather than manipulating his pet’s aesthetic, he instead allowed Bam’s ears to be naturally floppy with a long tail.
BTS fans admire the lack of procedures
After being introduced to Bam onscreen, many BTS fans took to Twitter to show support and praise towards Jungkook for opting against harming his dog solely for cosmetic purposes.
Jungkook is constantly admired for allowing his puppy’s appearance to remain natural.
Throughout In the Soop, the BTS artist is shown constantly caring for, interacting with and loving his dog, behaviours which many viewers continue to glorify.
As a highly intelligent breed, dobermans are also commonly bred as guard dogs which are used to help in spaces such as the police force and the military.
Bam’s naturally protective nature is therefore picked up on in the show but instead of encouraging this behaviour, Jungkook continues to reassure him that he can relax.
Bam is referred to as extremely lucky by many In the Soop viewers.
