Hello,
Im contingent on buying a house in the midwest. However, I had a sewer inspection done and our guy said its not a good looking sewer line. We went back to the sellers and told them this. They then got a sewer company they work with to clean the line and re-camera the line. Here is the video (https://youtu.be/7e7F13OzMvs ). This company said there are some issues but nothing major.
We then sent that video to a completely different sewer repair company and their response was –
“Looking at the video it is hard to say if this would back up regularly or?…Bellies are the hardest to diagnose. If something gets flushed that shouldn’t it may become more susceptible to backing up..In a perfect world there would be no standing water in the pipe….The 4 to 6 transition is breaking down as well. Using the sewer won’t degrade this further but cleanings will sometimes cause further issues. The cleaner does not have enough power to break good pipe but when there are edges it can grab these edges and cause further damage…”
This company said to repair it would be approx $7500 – this was a rough estimate.
We went back to the sellers and asked for $3750 off closing. They declined saying their guy said nothing major is wrong.
Should I still go through with the house or cancel?
Any experts see anything major wrong with the sewer based on the video?
Thanks!
