Canterbury’s Lachlan Lewis has been stood down from playing duties while under investigation for allegedly placing a sound speaker provided by the NRL up for sale online.

Several media outlets reported the Bulldogs five-eighth put a speaker on sale on eBay after it was originally provided by the NRL to the club while in the Queensland hub.
The incident is currently with the NRL’s integrity unit, with officials trying to get to the bottom of whether it was a practical joke gone wrong.
Regardless, it could not have come at a worse time for Lewis.
The 25-year-old is off contract, and he will now be replaced by Jake Averillo in the last-placed Bulldogs’ clash with Manly in the penultimate round of the season.
“The Bulldogs have made the NRL aware of an alleged incident involving Lachlan Lewis,” Canterbury said in a statement on Friday evening.
“The club are currently working with the NRL integrity unit regarding the matter.
“As a result, the Bulldogs have stood Lewis down until that process has been completed.”
The latest drama came as the Bulldogs confirmed they handed a breach notice to Adam Elliott after he was kicked out of a Gold Coast restaurant.

)Bulldogs officials were tight-lipped on Friday about proposed penalties, but Elliott will not play for the club again this season.
The back rower will be given until just after Canterbury’s final-round clash with Wests Tigers to reply to the notice.
The NRL issued Elliott with a breach notice on Thursday for bringing the game into disrepute and failing to comply with biosecurity protocols.
He was fined $10,000.
