A care home resident has melted the hearts of people after she volunteered to be a care assistant so she could help own around the facility.
Flower Park Care Home shared a snap on Maureen in its Facebook page as it revealed her new role.
The elderly lady was seen rocking a big grin as she was given her very own uniform while helping out around the home.
The post read: “We would like to introduce to our lovely resident Maureen.
“Maureen was talking to staff this morning and told us she would like to become a care assistant, we explained to Maureen that its our turn to look after her, she then said she would like to help us where she can.
“So Maureen agreed to be our new volunteer, she’s going to help folding towels and sheets and set the tables up for meal service.
“She can’t wait to start her new role and says she loves feeling part of the team in her very own uniform.”
The post shared this week has gone viral online, with the original post racking up more than 5,900 likes.
One social media user gushed: “Ah God bless her and lovely the home are for going a long with this it will make her feel needed x x.”
While another added: “Amazing, well done guy’s and girl’s for integrating this lady. You’ve probably added year’s onto her stay on our wonderful earth x.”
A third chimed in: “Love this story and what a fantastic care home well done to all the staff , good look Maureen am sure you’ll be brilliant.”
Meanwhile a fourth wrote: “Wonderful for Maureen to be able to take a part in the running of her home. I know this is the thing my grandparents really missed when they were in residential care. I’m sure Maureen is loving keeping busy.”

After the online love, the care home shared another snap of Maureen today (April 30) as she helped out with the afternoon drinks trolley.
