Chelsea sub ratings
Reece James (for Azpilicueta, 57) – 6
Worried Chelsea fans when he went down in stoppage time, having only just returned from a long-term absence. Scored his penalty before shushing those clad in red.
Romelu Lukaku (for Mount, 74) – 6
Laid the ball off for Werner in stoppage time, although you never fancied Chelsea’s No11 to score. Belgian saw an instinctive effort stopped by Kelleher. Finished superbly after sitting down Ibrahima Konate… only to be denied by the tightest of offside calls. Scored his penalty in the shoot-out.
Timo Werner (for Pulisic, 74) – 5
Raced in-behind with his searing pace before centring for Havertz to score… only for his compatriot to be denied by the offside flag. Wasted a stoppage-time opening. Saw his penalty just about squirm through Kelleher’s grasp.
jorginho (for Kovacic, 116) – 6
Immediately executed a 50 yard switch after coming on, before nearly playing Lukaku through with a lofted pass. Produced a hop, skip and a converted spot kick.
Kepa Arrizabalaga (for Mendy, 119) – 1
Spaniard was brought on for penalties, having saved four in shoot-outs this term – but failed to save any of 11 before smashing over the bar to hand Liverpool victory.
