Growing up Cheryl idolised Friends actress Jennifer Aniston and her svelte frame.
And due to being impressed with the star’s figure, the former Girls Aloud singer, 37, was inspired to follow the Atkins diet, in her younger years, after Jennifer boasted about the results.
However, Cheryl has now admitted that the plan – which allows fans of the diet to eat as much protein and fat as they want but they must refrain from carbs – was not pleasant and that after “falling” for the strict diet that she decided against copying Jennifer’s intense workout regime.
Speaking to Marie Claire, Cheryl said: “The Atkins diet, years ago, when I was a teen. I fell for that one. It was Jennifer Aniston telling us all to do it.”
When the Parachute musician was quizzed by the glossy if she thinks people should workout like their favourite celebrity rather than trying different exercises that could be better suited to them, she replied: “Do you know what, I absolutely agree.
“It doesn’t mean you love them any less. I look at Jennifer Aniston[‘s diet and workout regime] and say, thanks, but no thanks. Thanks for the advice, but it’s not for me. I still love her.”
In 2019 Cheryl shared how she dedicated herself to getting back into shape after giving birth to her son Bear.
Speaking to Dermot O’Leary on his Radio 2 show, Cheryl revealed what it took to get her back in front of the cameras – and admitted she’s turned to celebrity trainer Tracy Anderson for help.
“It’s a workout system where she thinks you should use your tiny muscles rather than your major ones as a woman to lean you rather than bulk you,” she detailed.
“She uses the heat to tone your skin. It’s not hotbox yoga, you sweat – it’s the same temperature as hot yoga but its a different method. It’s muscular and then cardio.”
The hitmaker also said she was taking tips from Instagram health guru Anthony William to tone up in the kitchen, too.
” The celery juice is very recent for me. It’s not my favourite vegetable to be honest, but it’s doable. So somebody said I should follow this guy on Instagram, he was getting so many testimonials – he’s called the Medical Medium – and he thinks you should drink 16oz (half a litre) of celery juice on an empty stomach in the morning before you have anything else, and it’s healing for your organs,” she said.
Dermot – who used to work with Cheryl on The X Factor – then asked if she ever used some of the more bonkers weight-loss methods, like downing hot water mixed with lemon and chili first thing in the morning.
“Or apple cider vinegar,” Cheryl joked. “Oh my god, coffee – please, coffee. For me it’s consistency, I used to do things once or twice and forget about it. You’ve got to do it for a few months before you see results.”
Dermot then admitted it was Cheryl who got him to change the way he hits the gym from when they were on X Factor together.
“You taught me a great method when we worked together, I can’t go to a gym and just walk around and try out some weights and stuff – that’s my idea of hell – you work out for an hour, almost until you pass out, and I’m exactly the same now,” he told her.
“I’m quite extreme,” she then admitted.
