Raipur, Chhattisgarh: BEd assistant teachers, recently terminated from their jobs, took to the streets of Raipur on Jan 19 to stage a protest. They hope the state government will address their demands including job security and merger. The teachers blocked the busy Telibandha Road and protested near Telibandha Pond. Their agitation has been ongoing, with some male teachers even tilting their heads and female teachers cutting their hair in solidarity. The protests come after the Chhattisgarh High Court ruled that BEd teachers working in government jobs for the past 15 months are ineligible for the post.
