Chinese Ambassador to Egypt Liao Liqiang hailed the last 10 years of Egypt-China relations as a “golden decade” during a ceremony at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization.
The ambassador praised the fruitful achievements of the comprehensive strategic partnership under the strong leadership of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and President Xi Jinping.
In 2023, the two nations declared the “Egypt-China Partnership Year”, holding two presidential summits and organizing dozens of collaborative events.
Trade between Egypt and China reached $12.56 billion in the first nine months of the year, solidifying China’s position as one of Egypt’s largest investors. Cultural exchanges also flourished, with a successful exhibition of Egyptian antiquities in Shanghai and the expected arrival of 300,000 Chinese tourists to Egypt this year.
The ambassador also noted the significance of Egypt’s participation in the Belt and Road Initiative, bolstered by a new cooperation agreement and successful economic and trade committee meetings.
He highlighted the recent visit by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty, who met with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. The two sides agreed to deepen political trust, expand practical cooperation, and promote peace and stability in the Middle East.
Ambassador Liao expressed confidence that Egypt and China, guided by their leaders’ strategic vision, would continue to build on this foundation of success and enter an even brighter era of partnership.
