Christian Bale has revealed he’s soon due to join the filming of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Frankenstein movie and will be shaving his head for the occasion.
Christian Bale Readying Up for Frankenstein Role
The film, being made with Warner Bros. after Netflix pulled out, is set to start filming in the coming weeks, and Bale is playing Frankenstein in a story set in 1930’s Chicago that focuses on his search for love that ultimately leads to the creation of a reanimated bride.
Bale spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the film during a groundbreaking for his passion project: a village of homes where foster siblings can live under one roof. Once he’s finished what he needs to do there, he’ll be off to play the iconic character for his The Dark Knight co-star.
“I’ve got to shave my head next week [for a movie]. I asked them to please let me hold off on doing that, but everyone was going, ‘What’s wrong with Bale? What’s up with him?’ I said, ‘Just let me get through the groundbreaking and then I’ll be off to join you.’
Bale went on to seemingly make a crack about his reported method acting by saying ”I’ve got to get busy getting on the rack, breaking my bones, and eating lots of fertilizer or something to try and grow.”
Bale will be joined by Jessie Buckley, Annette Bening, Penelope Cruz, and Peter Sarsgaard for Gyllenhaal’s sophomore effort.
