The wife of Supreme Court justice Clarence Thomas has apologized to his clerks after she backed Donald Trump’s election fraud conspiracy theories in the run up to the deadly Capitol riot.
Ginni Thomas, a conservative lobbyist and fervent Trump supporter, has enthusiastically embraced outlandish ideas spread by the former president’s followers.
She frequently railed on Facebook against a ‘coup’ against Trump led by Jewish philanthropist George Soros, according to Slate, and promoted a series of unsubstantiated corruption claims against Joe Biden.
In one post on her now-private page, she posted, on the morning of January 6, a story about the crowd gathering for the Stop the Steal Trump rally.
‘LOVE MAGA people!’ she said. ‘GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU STANDING UP or PRAYING!’

Thomas later appended an apparent disclaimer that said, ‘[Note: written before violence in US Capitol],’ according to Mark Joseph Stern of Slate.com, who first wrote about the posts.
Her posts apparently upset some on the private Thomas Clerk World email list, which comprises her husband’s staff over his three decades on the bench.
She has recently apologized, The Washington Post reported.
‘I owe you all an apology. I have likely imposed on you my lifetime passions,’ she wrote.
‘My passions and beliefs are likely shared with the bulk of you, but certainly not all.
‘And sometimes the smallest matters can divide loved ones for too long. Let’s pledge to not let politics divide THIS family, and learn to speak more gently and knowingly across the divide.’

She, however, was active in conservative causes before she met Clarence Thomas.
They married in 1987, before he was on the bench.
