Steve Rifkind confirms DMX is still alive
The rapper’s manager confirmed to TMZ last night, April 6th, that he remains in a coma and his condition “has not materially changed”.
Steve Rifkind said doctors are set to perform tests on Wednesday, April 7th, to determine the levels of brain functions, which will determine the decisions DMX’s family will need to make.
On April 4th, DMX’s former manager Nakia Walker told BuzzFeed News that the rapper was in a “vegetative state” with “lung and brain failure”.
What happened to DMX?
On April 2nd, DMX was rushed to hospital and now remains in a coma and on a ventilator. Through a publicist, the rapper’s family told Associated Press: “On Friday night, April 2nd, 2021, our brother, son, father, and colleague DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, was admitted to White Plains (NY) Hospital, facing serious health issues.”
“We ask that you please keep Earl/DMX and us in your thoughts, wishes, and prayers as well as respect our privacy as we face these challenges.”
DMX’s lawyer, Murray Richman, said to Associated Press that the rapper was admitted to hospital following going into cardiac arrest. Although reports exist that an overdose caused the cardiac arrest, Richman said he could not confirm those reports and was not sure what caused the heart attack.
According to TMZ, a family member said paramedics attempted to resuscitate DMX for 30 minutes, during which he was deprived of oxygen, which affected his brain and caused his current state.
