A SWAT team in Los Angeles has pinned an armed carjacker suspected to be the gunman who shot two deputies in the head last week in Compton, reports claim.
Several law enforcement sources said an armed carjacker who led LA County authorities on a high-speed chase on Tuesday is connected to the ambush that left two deputies clinging to life in California.
Claudia Apolinar, 31, and her 24-year-old male colleague was shot multiple times while sitting in their patrol car outside the Metro Blue Line station at Willowbrook Avenue at around 7pm on Saturday.
Shocking surveillance footage captured the moment the mom-of-one saved her partner’s life by applying a tourinquet to his wounds after he was shot in the head.
Apolinar was reportedly shot in the jaw and torso – both deputies survived and are said to be in stable condition at a local hospital.
Authorities are now on a manhunt for the shooter, who they believe to be between 28 and 30 years old.
